The Peak District is one of the best places for mountain biking in the UK so I was delighted when I found some new accommodation in Edale to try out this November. I know the area really well having ridden there countless times over the years so I was confident that the location woud work well.
I checked out the accommodation over the summer to make sure it was good enough for Hit the Hills, key ingredients are: comfy lounge, big dining room, plenty of beds, hot showers, bike storage, bike wash (beck running through the garden) and a pub nearby.
I ran it as a special offer weekend and had three sets of friends who all got on really well over the weekend. Dinner was served as and when they arrived on Friday, then we headed off to the local pub for a few drinks. We chatted through some of the route options for Saturdays and ended up agreeing a cracking route taking us over to Ladybower. You can view the route here.
On Saturday after a hearty breakfast we all went out together and had a fantastic day taking in amongst other trails Spud Ally, Hagg Side, Screaming Mile & Hope Brink. After the ride I got the fire going and all the guests tucked into the cake and chatted about the days riding in the lounge.
The three course dinner went down well and all the guests retired to the cosy lounge afterwards and settle down by the fire for the evening.
On Sunday after another hearty breakfast some chose to ride again doing their own thing and others headed off to early to spend the rest of the day with their families.
All-in-all a great weekend with fantastic accommodation, amazing riding that held up well in winter conditions and lots of hearty homemade food – perfect!
